On May 26th, a batch of fresh fruit goods arrived in Shenzhen from Jakarta were transported to the cool room at OPSⅡ, marking the official opening of the upgraded and expanded cool centre. After the new cool centre is put into use, the inbound and outbound cold storage of Shenzhen Airport will be operated separately, and the cold chain cargo guarantee capacity of Shenzhen Airport will be greatly improved.

The inbound cool center covers an area of 1450 square meters, which is divided into food storage, fresh storage and medicine storage. The internal volume exceeds 2550 cubic meters, which can realize the constant temperature storage function from -20℃ to 25℃ according to the characteristics of different temperature-controlled goods. On the premise of meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention, the cold storage can guarantee about 60 tons of cold chain goods at most once. The cold storage, which can guarantee 40 tons of cold chain goods before, will be changed to special use for outbound, thus realizing the separation operation of inbound and outbound cold chain goods. The capacity of Shenzhen Airport International Cargo Station to guarantee cold chain goods at one time will be increased from 40 tons to 100 tons.

The advanced remote monitoring system is adopted in the central cold storage, which realizes full coverage and real-time monitoring of all positions in the storage. Operators can check the whole process of goods from the apron to the storage through the mobile phone, ensuring that each link of each batch of cold chain goods can be monitored and traced. In addition, the cold storage is equipped with advanced door control system, defrosting system, energy saving system and safety alarm system, which greatly improves the intelligent and transparent management of the cold storage.

In the aspect of cold chain goods guarantee, there are two lanes in and out of the warehouse, three entrances to goods, and four new entrances to goods. In addition, the cold storage is equipped with a professional lifting platform for incoming goods and a door seal for heat preservation of delivery, and the cargo tray can directly enter the cold storage, thus effectively avoiding the secondary loss of temperature-controlled goods during loading and unloading, and greatly improving the operation efficiency of cold chain goods.

In recent years, with the support of customs and other units, Shenzhen Airport's special cargo guarantee qualification and cross-border e-commerce business model have basically achieved full coverage, driving the rapid development of airport freight business. In the first four months of this year, the cargo and mail throughput of Shenzhen Airport reached 507,000 tons, an increase of 36.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate ranked first in the country. Especially for high value-added cold chain goods, the market demand is growing rapidly. From January to April this year, more than 5,000 tons of imported fresh cold chain goods were processed, up 190% year-on-year. After the opening of the central cold storage, the storage conditions and support capacity of fresh cold chain goods will be greatly improved, which will help Shenzhen Airport to build a high-level airport-type national logistics hub.
